What is tech tool:

What is dev2tool:


  • Special tool to access and program parameters at any level without restriction;
    • Used primarily for program: speed limit, change CHASSIS ID, immobilizer neutralization;
    • Change minimum / maximum values of parameters, for example: increase speed limit;



with dev2tool, you have access to all levels(specially level 2) parameters

Dev2tool will give you access to over 11000 parameters! This is correct!
The only problem is that you truck DOES NOT have 11000 parameters.
I got dev2tool and I’ve tried to disable the egr on a 16L volvo engine (volvo D16D US model).
As I said with dev2tool you will see for example a parameter called “EGR Axis” but the ECU on the truck DOES NOT have that parameter in any programming levels.
Pretty much is not possible to disable unless you will find somebody (tuning company) that can reprogram your whole dataset on the engine ECU.

That parameter HJM (level 5) it is only into PTT database. The ECU on Volvo trucks (US Model) does NOT have that parameter.
Anyway even if exist is not possible to change it because it is level 5.
You can change the value of that parameter but when you turn on the engine it will get back to it’s original value.
Level 5 is only function test, freeze frame data ….
I’ve tried already some level 5 to reprogram but NOPE … not working.

How to activate Volvo Tech Tool 2.5.86 for free

This is a problem I’ve ever had with Volvo Premium Tech Tool PTT 2.5.87 developer and solutions i used.


The problem: installing the Tech Tool software 2.5.87…everything works ok. After a few days I can not connect with any car and can not pick the vehicle brand from the list nor the VIN number. And after a while everything goes back to normal. I upload an overview picture.


Here are all useful tips and solutions from folks. Hope it can help you out (Actually, i gave it up and got the crack with free activation service, with soooo relief.)



The latest version is Tech Tool and the latest have new update technology
and it’s because of bad activation. new 2.06 not could work with old activators.
Not that I condone people stealing other people’s KG or reselling but I will say this…

The reason: your KG doesn’t activate properly. Version 2.5.86 has RSS feeds that it calls to in order to initialize the application. If you’re not connected to the internet during this, it will fail and timeout causing that drop down to become blank, and also stopping use of PTT altogether. So this nonsense of not buying it from you doesn’t exactly apply because it wouldn’t work regardless.

How I fixed it: startup your own local web server (I used Fenix due to it being very small, and lightweight) and copy the RSS feeds to it, modify hosts file to point the normal external URL to And bam, no more problems with offline check-ins and background sync.


I want to add to this that simply modifying C:/ProgramData/Tech Tool/Waf/DevicesConfigInfo.xml

Changing the date and leaving checksum so it fails, will actually fix this problem as well, but it’s not recommended as a permanent fix.



Also, here is another solution i found for those who used KG improperly:

First, make sure to use a USERID that follows Volvo standard or you won’t be able to program parameters and will result in an error.
– you must use two alphanumeric characters followed by an even number of numbers. For example, AB1234.

Also, you must check the box “No central” if using the popular KG floating around or you will need to background sync. This is the reason your databases are coming up blank and I’m guessing it’s running slow when this occurs. The temp fix is to connect to the internet, then open Tech Tool. Problem solved for a week then it will occur again unless you re-run the KG, erase DB and re-activate using “No central store” checkbox and correct user ID fingerprint.



The last important for newbies: to buy Premium Tech Tool PTT 2.5.86 with FREE installation & activation service. Now, many Chinese vendors sell Premium Tech Tool crack and offer free service like this as far as i know. is one of them. I am using PTT 2.5.86 from them now… includes 3 parts: tech tool(for diagnosis), dev2tool(for programming) and visfeed(for reprogramming).

How to setup John Deere Service Advisor to work with Nexiq clone

FYI, John Deere Service Advisor 90% works with Nexiq China clone.

It is possible to install John Deere Service Advisor on your laptop, though the installation is really complicated. If you have a Lenovo Thinkpad laptop, the easiest way is to restore the main partition from the image of my computers’ c: drive. And every time i change my laptop, i just restore it.


Win7 installed and fully updated. It takes hours.

The image will not work on xp, but SA works fine. My suggestion, buy used Lenovo T400 or T500. it’s more or less 250eur in europe. Install windows 7 and then can put my image. Takes 10 minutes and u have SA working.


Topic 2: How to get Nexiq china worked?
I spent a month doing research on this and i managed my Chinese Nexiq to work 90%. The thing is that Nexiq has only 2 channels while EDL has 3. The 3rd one is Powertrain and it is used very seldom. E.g. I reprogrammed all the controllers on 6690 premium except two, but found a way around it opening the pld file with pldeditor and changing Powertrain channel to Vehicle (channel 1). Lots of machines don’t even have a 3rd Powetrain channel. Like all 5R; 6115R, 6125R, 7280R….. From my experience only the older machines have it and still can be programmed most of the time. Programming controllers is easy, but diagnostics is a bit annoying. Every time you establish the connection u have to remove the usb plug and plug it again for the readings to appear. Connection establishment is taking a long long time and you never see the ECU. Only all the other controllers. So all the time something doesn’t work. If you are prepared for this here is what you have to do:

  1. a) Rewire the the cables as shown in the picture in my post here:


I switched places channel 1 with channel 2 (see the pic) with my Chinese version and now it works fine, probably it was possible to do it adjusting the software settings as mentioned above, but i tried a lot, and nothing helped. Now i can connect, tried with 6125R and 5070M. Works fine!!! Except one very important thingy. After i establish the connection, all the reading give the same meaningless number. Then, I discovered accidentally, I pull out the USB cable, get the message “Connection interrupted” I put it back in, get the message “Connection resumed” and wuolla, all the readings show up immediately.


  1. b) You don’t have to change the firmware. Both will work pretty much the same but with different issues.

P.S. For diagnostics only, there is a subprogram of SA that works without any cable rewiring, it doesn’t have a Program Controller option, and you still need to reinsert the usb after connection has been established. You just need to select the right port (which is usually 1939ImplementAutoboud or 1939AppAutoboud depending on the machine) and model. If you have SA, you will find the software at c:\Program Files\Service ADVISOR\xvds\XJDET.exe
Just to let you know, after a year working like that, i bought another EDL (recommended by a folk in the forum, much much much more than the old one)

I have updated to version 5.0 myself. This is what i did:
  1. Hold scanner’s “Enter” key and connect USB cable to your Windows PC (Mac is not supported), and then release “Enter” key. The scanner will go into Update Mode screen.
  1. Install USB VCOM driver (Only need at first time, see next USB VCOM driver installation guide)
  2. Download the software from top of this page, extract the zip file (ie. into a folder. ie. d:\temp\FcarReader_502_20150806, run file named FcarReader_502.exe. Select COM number. (You will find the COM number on step 2, or you will be found under Control Panel–>Device Manager).
  3. Start Update

Allison Transmisssion on a 2001 navistar-international(School Bus): perfect, clear codes and read codes
ISC 960 model or GMC Savanna school bus: cannot hook up.
In sum, it’s nice when it works. This is a code reader only and not a programmer it will clear codes and read codes, nothing else. Works great for the purpose it’s built for. But it would be better if the factory improves the hardware design coz the display is very small and dim. Extremely hard to read.

Connect Volvo VOCOM interface with Renault Magnum using the 12 pin cable.

Open Renault Diagnostic software, click the right truck icon to choose truck model “Magnum”.

Now you can see Volvo VOCOM Renault Magnum main menu as below:


You can diagnose many truck modules like: Engine, Brake, Powertrain, Suspension, Heating/Air conditioning, Speed limiter and Cabin.


In this case, first go to Powertrain system and select “As-Tronic” gearbox ECU.
